Instead of Kirin 990, the non-Pro model has also been switched to Kirin 810 processor alongside lower resolution 8MP rear camera and less memory with 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB internal storage. However, Huawei still retains the support for M-pencil stylus and Huawei Share as well as the 8MP front camera and 7250mAh battery on the standard MatePad model.
Meanwhile, Huawei will also release an entry-level tablet called MatePad T that is also known at MatePad T 8 in some markets. Powered by MediaTek MT8768 processor, the tablet comes with an 8-inch IPS 1280 x 800 IPS display, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 2MP front camera, 5MP rear camera, and 5100mAh battery
As opposed to the current MatePad Pro in Malaysia which is limited to Wi-Fi connectivity, both MatePad and MatePad T do support LTE network. Pricewise, the tablets are priced at RM 1399 and RM 559, respectively.
For each purchase of these tablets, customers will receive free 3-month premium subscription to Huawei Video streaming service and 12-month access to Huawei Mobile Cloud with 15GB storage. The MatePad will also receive a flip cover as an additional freebie.
