123456 Is Amazingly Still The Most Common Password

Simple passwords are a bad idea, especially in a day and age when we use passwords for just about everything. But unfortunately, it looks like we have yet to master the art of making good ones. And it’s something we see virtually every year.

Password manager NordPass published a list of the most commonly used passwords in 2020. And 123456 is still the most common one. And in the list of the top 10 most common ones, there are five other variations of that bad password, being either longer or shorter. Naturally, being sequential, they take less than a second to crack.

As mentioned, the list also include other details about each passwords. This includes the time it takes to crack, the number of times it was exposed, and the number of people using it. And on the list, the bad password that takes the longest time to crack is three years.

You can check out the list on your own by following the link below. And if your password is on the list, then you should definitely change it. It’s also good practice to keep changing them every once in awhile. A good way to start is to use long passphrases rather than short passwords.
