CES 2021 has been a very busy outing for laptop makers as AMD and NVIDIA have announced new high-performance hardware for them in the form of Ryzen 5000 Series and RTX 30 Series chips. Malaysia’s own Illegear is not an exception to this, as the company has begun taking pre-orders for laptops powered by these new processors.
Among them is the Onyx G which can be obtained with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics. Equipped with a 15.6-inch 165Hz WQHD IPS display, the base model comes with 16GB RAM and 500GB solid state drive although pre-order customers would receive a free upgrade to 32GB dual-channel RAM, 512GB Samsung PM981a SSD and liquid metal thermal compound.
At the moment, Onyx G is the only Illegear laptop that has a Ryzen 5000 Series processor to its name although the company has promised that there will be more to come very soon. As for the GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics though, the company has also provided RTX 3060 and RTX 3070 options to Onyx Pro and Selenite Pro.
On another hand, two other models, Onyx V and Rogue now feature RTX 3060 as standard. Just like the Onyx G, the free upgrade to 512GB Samsung SSD will be provided to customers that pre-order any of these four RTX-based laptops as well.
With an estimated delivery date of between February to March 2021, the refreshed Onyx G starts from RM 11,999 while the Onyx Pro and Selenite Pro starting price is listed as RM 7,399 and RM 7,699, respectively. For those who are more interested in Onyx V and Rogue, their price tag begins at RM 5,899 and RM 5,999.
