Mass Effect Legendary Edition Landing 14 May 2021

Back in November last year, Bioware announced that it would launch a remastered version of the original Mass Effect trilogy, known as the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, as part of the franchise’s 13th birthday. Staying true to its word, the studio has dropped a release date: 14 May 2021. Oh, and there’s also a new reveal trailer.

As you can imagine, the reveal trailer shows off snippets taken from all three titles showcasing updated textures and designs. Making them look more appealing when viewed in 4K HDR. Naturally, the Legendary Edition also features more than just updated textures for the environment and objects; facial animations of characters have also been refreshed, as well as the vehicles. Making them look a lot more lifelike and less flat.

In addition, Bioware has seemingly updated in-game ambience for the trilogy, adding the little things such as junk, dust particles, and even flames and fumes that are belched out of the exhaust ports of vehicles.

More importantly, the Legendary Edition will now bring controller support for the first title of the trilogy, as well as updated key bindings. On top of that, Bioware has also added in improved character customisation across the trilogy, making it alot easier for players who aim to port over their player character across all three games. Instead of having to create a new character with each title.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be available on the PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X and Series S, as well as last-generation consoles.
