They have been rumoured in the works for so long that we thought they will not see the light of the day anytime soon. But here we are: Apple has just officially unveiled the new AirPods Max wireless headphones.

Presented in over-ear form factor, the AirPods Max headphones are linked together with a stainless steel headband that is wrapped in a soft-touch material and also features a knitted mesh canopy. Additionally, Apple also stated that the earcups of the headphones are made from anodised aluminium.

AirPods Max are also equipped with a pair of 40mm custom-designed dynamic drivers that are being accompanied by a dual neodymium ring magnet motor each. Just like the AirPods Pro, Apple H1 chip is also present inside the new wireless headphones which power their key features such as the Adaptive EQ that measure and adjust the sound quality being delivered to the user in real-time based on the fit and seal of the ear cushions on AirPods Max.

Just like the AirPods Pro, the new AirPods Max also comes with Active Noise Cancellation feature which utilizes eight microphones that are located all over the headphones. Similarly, there is also the Transparency mode and the support for spatial audio with dynamic head tracking.

Interesting enough, AirPods Max are also equipped with a Digital Crown just like Apple Watch. On the headphones, it can be used to control volume as well as music playback, phone calls, and to activate Siri. Similar to other AirPods, putting the AirPods Max on will also automatically starts the audio playback.

As for battery life, Apple claimed that the AirPods Max can provide a listening time of up to 20 hours with ANC or Transparency mode on. In case that you need to utilize them quickly, five minutes of charging will allow you to obtain 1.5 hours of listening time and each AirPods Max are accompanied with a Smart Case that helped save their battery charge when not in use.

Available in Space Grey, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Pink, AirPods Max have a general shipping date of 15 December although the exact release date in Malaysia is not yet known at the moment. Nevertheless, you don’t have to guess its local pricing though as Apple has listed the new headphones on its Malaysian website for RM 2399.
