Assassin’s Creed Odyssey had a few sticking points, and one of them was the XP Boost microtransaction. On the other hand, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was looking to be better because it didn’t include that. Unfortunately, that thing that you wonder why you had to pay for has made a return.
Game Informer reports that a recent update has added the Permanent XP Boost to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in-game store. It costs 1000 Helix credits, which is RM39.99 for us in Malaysia. And it does the exact same thing as it did in Odyssey, giving you a permanent 50% EXP gain boost.
As to why this was added, Game Informer also got a statement from Ubisoft to that end. And in it the company says that it’s there to help players to catch up with the game content “as more and more post-launch content becomes available”.
Ubisoft also says that the EXP gain rate in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has not been altered with the addition of the booster. Which is fine, but it’s doubtful that players have forgotten what a point of contention it was in Odyssey. It’s a wonder that the publisher has decided to include this, especially post launch.
