Qualcomm announced on Monday on its official page, it introduces the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2. Official only mention around early 2021 this technology will apply to the mobile devices.
Gen 2’s 3D Sonic Sensor is able to perform 50% faster and 77% larger than the first generation, it is able to identify fingerprints even though users fingers are wet. This improvement enables the device to create a 3D scan of fingerprints through glass or metal.
The first generation was featured in the many flagship phones before, such as Samsung Galaxy S10, S20, Note 10 and Note 20. So far only can be guaranteed that second-generation provides a quicker and accurate reading due to the Sensor able to capture 1.7x more biometric data than the first generation does.
The exact date of release on which devices needs wait for the further announcement by Qualcomm, but can wait for the later phone release of Samsung Galaxy S21 whether the Gen 2 technology is implemented on the device or not.
