In-line with the company’s announcement earlier this year, TM has opened a dedicated section for Streamyx customers to check the level of speed upgrade that they able to obtain for their account. This upgrade comes at no additional cost to their existing bill.
According to TM, the upgrade is provided according to the capability of the infrastructure in their area or building:
Specifically, Streamyx users that are within unifi area will be migrated to the fiber network with speed of up to 100Mbps. However, the actual speed that they will receive based on the network infrastructure to their respective homes as the legacy network on some high-rise buildings only able to provide a maximum speed of up to 30Mbps.
For some users, they will only receive maximum speed of up to 8Mbps which is the highest-tier plan that TM has for Streamyx. Once again, legacy technology is the reason here but nevertheless, the company stated that it is still working to expand the reach of its fiber network and will be informing users once unifi is available in their areas.
