OnePlus Releases More Images Of OnePlus 9 Pro; Standard Variant Officially Revealed

OnePlus has recently shared new images showcasing its upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone that is slated to debut globally next week. Along with the set of photos is a new launch teaser, which also officially revealed the flagship’s standard model for the first time.

As seen from the latest images provided by the company, the actual design of the OnePlus 9 Pro is exactly how it was depicted in the earlier leaks. In front of the device is a curved screen with an in-display camera located on its upper left corner, while on its back is a quad camera setup housed in a vertical bump, which also features Hasselblad’s branding. The volume rocker is visible on the left side of the phone, and on the right is where the state slider and lock button are located. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau notes that the silver colour option showcased in the images is referred to as “Morning Mist”.

Unfortunately, the only glimpse of the standard variant reveals its rear camera bump, which almost looks identical to the Pro version, but with two noticeable differences. The first being the lack of a fourth camera sensor, and the second is the Hasselblad branding which is orientated vertically. The violet colour option shown on this model is referred to as “Winter Mist”.

In terms of specifications, Lau has confirmed that the Pro variant will sport a Sony IMX789 and a IMX766 for its main and ultra-wide sensors, respectively. It is not revealed if the standard model of the OnePlus 9 will also feature the same sensors as part of its camera setup. And as implied by the branding, the imaging system on both models of the upcoming flagship series will feature enhancements by renown Swedish camera brand Hasselblad. As revealed by the company last year, the OnePlus 9 series will be powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 chipset.

OnePlus will launch the new flagship smartphone series via a virtual launch on 23 March at 10pm local time, which will be streamed live through its official website and social media channels. As previously reported, there is a possibility that the company may launch its first ever smartwatch during the event as well.

Alleged OnePlus 9 Pro Prototype Leaks; May Feature Hasselblad Enhanced Cameras

Live images featuring an alleged prototype of the OnePlus 9 Pro have surfaced online, thanks to Youtuber Dave2D. This time around, the phone’s rear case exhibits a different camera array, unlike the one seen in the earlier leak that was reported a few weeks ago.

As seen in the photos, this version of the phone sports two prominent larger cameras sitting vertically above two horizontal smaller sensors within the housing. What’s even more interesting is the Hasselblad branding sandwiched between them. This suggests that OnePlus may have partnered with the Swedish company to include some form of enhancements or technology to the phone’s cameras.

For those unfamiliar, Hasselblad is one of the industry leaders in medium format camera production which are favoured by photography professionals. Medium format cameras are equipped with larger sensors than full-frame ones, enabling them to capture more detail and tonal range, as well as a shallower depth of field for portrait-based shots.

As to how Hasselblad would incorporate its medium format photography into a mobile device is anyone’s guess, at least for the time being. Of course, provided that this OnePlus 9 Pro prototype is to be believed. Hopefully we’ll get some details from the smartphone maker when it is finally ready to officially unveil the phone sometime soon.

Live Photos Of Upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro Smartphone Leaks

Live photos of the upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone recently surfaced online. The design of the phone, shown in the images, does resemble the renders provided by Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks) back in November last year.

Much like the leakster’s renders, the phone is seen sporting a large curved display with thin bezels and a tiny punch-hole camera cutout on the top left. While on its back is a glossy case with a rectangular camera island that houses four cameras and a LED flash module. Besides giving us a glimpse of the design of the handset, the leak did not provide any details of its specifications. 

According to Chinese tech site IT Home, it is said that the OnePlus 9 Pro will feature a 4,500mAh battery with fast charging support at 65W for wired and 40W for wireless. The phone will also sport dual stereo speakers, and is water + dust resistant with IP68 rating. Prior to this, OnePlus confirmed that the new flagship series will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 chipset.

Photography-wise, the rear cameras are believed to include dual Sony IMX689 48MP sensors (one of which suggested to feature a telephoto lens), paired with an ultra-wide angle and a macro shooter. Housed in the punch-hole cutout on the OnePlus 9 Pro’s display is a 32MP selfie camera.

The new OnePlus flagship series is expected to consist of two models: a standard variant and the Pro model. As mentioned before in our previous report, it is rumoured that the company will launch both models sometime in March.
