Modder Transforms Portable Gas Stove Into A Small Form Factor PC

The PC Modding and custom-design casing community are nothing new at this point and safe to say, the stuff that comes out of the minds of some individuals are nothing short of creative feats. Recently, one PC modder showed how they were able to make a DIY PC by transforming a portable gas stove into a chassis.

The modder, Sunoshop, hails from Vietnam and originally shared the video of his portable gas stove custom PC on TikTok, but has since caught fire within the PC Master Race subreddit. If one were to dig a little deeper into the chassis thickness of the stove, one would find that it is around 120mm thick, with the encased space just nearly half that. For reference, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition is about half the overall thickness at 61mm, and it is unlikely that the chassis would accommodate the card’s PCB, length-wise.

For that matter, you can especially see why the GPU slot within this portable gas stove PC remains empty; as fun as a project as this chassis may seem, the Sunoshop would have to dig deep and figure out how they would be able to cram a GPU into it.

Despite its lack of a GPU, that isn’t the point that defines this portable gas stove PC. To boot it up, the modder made it so that they’d have to turn the gas knob on the side, just as you normally would on such an appliance. Then, instead of bright blue flames in the centre, what you get is a ring of RBG, emanating from the PC fan that is built in the middle of the system.

As for where the canister for the portable gas stove would be, that space has been filled with the PC’s PSU. Then, just underneath where the hob lays is where all the PC internals lay, in all their RGB glory.

The only factors that remain a mystery to us are what components Sunoshop had used to build the portable gas stove PC. Even at a glance, our resident PC enthusiast can’t quite finger the chipset the build is based on. In fact, the only thing that could made out was that the SSD inside was definitely one from Kingston.

Whatever the case, this design sure beats the heck out of the KFConsole, at least in terms of creativity.

GOG Pulls Hitman – GOTY; Admits It Has DRM In Its Current Form

Late last month, GOG put up its version of Hitman – Game of the Year Edition. Being on GOG usually meant no DRM, but gamers soon found out that many of the game’s unlocks were tied to having an internet connection. After over two weeks, the CD Projekt storefront finally unreleased the game.

In a forum post, GOG community manager Gabriela Siemienkowicz, via the handle “chandra”, said that “we shouldn’t have released it in its current form, as you’ve pointed out”. The post also mentions talks with IO Interactive, the developers of Hitman – GOTY, presumably to properly work on a version of the game that didn’t need online connectivity to unlock new gear and starting locations.

To quickly recap, the Hitman reboot trilogy by IO Interactive required an internet connection to unlock new gear, costumes and starting equipment for every stage that you clear. This is the crux of the game’s massive replayability value. But all those unlocks, and by extension replay value, being tied to an internet connection is considered DRM, and it’s not difficult to see why.

The bit about dialogue with IO Interactive implies that GOG will one day rerelease a version of Hitman – GOTY that doesn’t need an internet connection for the unlocks. But it’s still up in the air as to when, or even if, that will happen.

realme Buds Air 2 with ANC Coming To Malaysia This April For RM 199

realme has recently announced its plan to launch the new Buds Air 2 in Malaysia next month. Based on the specs stated on realme Malaysia’s website, the new true wireless earbuds (TWEs) seemed to offer plenty of upgrades over their predecessor while being made available at a much lower price point.

In many ways, the Buds Air 2 seemed to carry on the torch from the Buds Air Pro rather than the original Buds Air. Powered by the brand-new R2 chip, the second generation model adopts the in-ear design and also features active noise cancellation (ANC) although at up to 25db, the effective range is not as high as the Buds Air Pro that can go up to 35db.

Equipped with a pair of 10mm drivers which realme claimed have been covered with carbon coating to make them more durable, the Buds Air 2 also features a mode called Bass Boost+ that apparently was co-created by the well-known EDM duo, The Chainsmokers. The new TWEs have also been designed to meet the IPX5 standard which means that they should be able to withstand sweats during your workout.

In terms of battery life, the TWEs can run for up to 4 to 5 hours depending on whether the ANC is on or off while the total operational hours can go up to 25 hours when you add Buds Air 2’s charging case into the picture. There is also a fast charge feature that allows users to obtain 2 hours of playback with 10 minutes of charging time.

Price-wise, the new realme Buds Air 2 goes for RM 199 when it is made available in our shores at realme Brand Store and authorised dealers nationwide on 3 April 2021. For those who prefer to purchase the TWEs online, they can do so starting from 8 April via realme’s official store at Lazada.
