Leaked Renders Suggest Upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 To Feature A Redesign

It will be a while longer until Apple decides to unveil the latest generation of its smartwatch series, which usually falls towards the end of the year. However, thanks to a series of renders released by leakster John Prosser and concept artist Ian Zelbo (aka @Rendersbyian), we may have a good look at the design of the upcoming Apple Watch Series 7.

Based on the images provided, the new generation of the watch series is shown to sport a flat edge design – similar to those featured on the current generation iPhones and iPads. If proven accurate, this alleged redesign of the Apple Watch would corroborate with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s report last year which suggested the company’s plan of going for a consistent streamlined look across all of its products.

Other than that, it is suggested that the supposed redesign retains the series’ iconic Digital Crown feature on the right hand side of the device, together with power button positioned below it. The renders released by Prosser and Zelbo also revealed several possible colour options for the new Apple Watch and Solo Loop Straps which includes red, blue, green, white, and black. It’s worth noting that Kuo’s aforementioned report predicts Apple may introduce a new colour for the Series 7 as well.

Prosser did not share any information in terms of specifications for the new wearable. However, earlier rumours suggest that Apple may introduce a new optical sensor that is capable of monitoring blood sugar levels, among other possible hardware improvements.

As usual, whether this leak is accurate or not remains to be seen. That being said, Prosser’s track record when it comes to insight regarding new Apple products are usually a mix of hits and misses. Needless to say, we highly advise our readers to take allegedly leaked information such as these with a healthy dose of salt.

Personal Data Of More Than 11 Million Malaysian Facebook Users Leaked Online

Personal data that belonged to more than 500 million Facebook users have been leaked online through a popular data marketplace forum that has previously listed databases from a Malaysian payment platforme-commerce merchant, and the national electoral roll up for sale.

Over 11 million Malaysian Facebook users are said to be part of this leak which was first highlighted by Alon Gal, who is the Co-Founder and CTO of Israelian cybersecurity company, Hudson Rock. He pointed out that the leaked database contains not only users’ Facebook ID but also their phone number, full name, birthday, account creation date, relationship status, and bio.

It also contains their current and past location while some accounts also have their e-mails present in the leaked database.  A sample of the data has since been verified as legit by Business Insider who has matched them with phone numbers and e-mail addresses of known users.

This is not the first time that this particular Facebook database has leaked online though. Alon has actually highlighted it back in January but at that time, it was being presented through a Telegram bot and one has to pay for credits in order to obtain information from the leaked database.

Now, the data is generally being made available for free (if you were active enough in the marketplace forum) which means that the barrier is significantly lower than before. However, the Director of Strategic Response Communications for Facebook, Liz Bourgeois has tweeted out that the data came from an old security issue that the company had fixed back in 2019.

That being said, many of the details within the leaked database can’t really be considered “old” though. Hence, they seemed rather ripe and ready to be exploited by crude marketers, scammers, and hackers.

Previously Leaked Sony Xperia Compact May Actually Be Xperia Ace 2

Back in January, serial leaker @OnLeaks revealed renders of what was believed to be a render of a Sony Xperia Compact device. Fans of the small flagship series had their hopes up following the leak. But that hope may be dashed with the latest report. The phone may actually be the Xperia Ace 2 instead.

Japanese outlet AndroidNext cites a Weibo post that calims that the phone won’t be an Xperia Compact device by Sony. Instead, it will be the next entry in the Xperia Ace series. This makes it a limited release phone in Japan that Docomo customers may get. The post goes on to claim that there won’t be a global variant for this 5.5-inch Xperia device.

That’s as far as the details go from the Weibo post goes. But AndroidNext speculates that the Xperia device in question will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G chipset. The rest is similar to what we’ve heard of before, which is a 5.5-inch screen with a water drop notch, a dedicated camera button, and the side mounted finger print sensor power button.

This is certainly unfortunate for those who were looking forward to a Sony Xperia Compact device. It looks like the iPhone 12 mini remains the only device that’s on a flagship level that’s available on the market.
