Final Fantasy XVI Launching As Limited PS5 Exclusive On 22 June 2023

Square-Enix has shared the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XVI earlier during The Game Awards 2022. Apart from showcasing new in-game sequences, the video also included the much anticipated release date reveal for the latest installment of the publisher’s long-running role playing game series, which is now confirmed to be on 22 June 2023.

While the game itself has previously been confirmed to be available on multiple platforms, users on PC as well as Xbox Series X and S may have to wait a while longer before they’re able to sink their teeth in Final Fantasy XVI. As seen from the trailer, the game will first be released as a limited exclusive on the PlayStation 5, at least until 31 December 2023. In other words, gamers not on Sony’s current generation video game console will only get to play the game sometime in 2024, if not on the very last day of next year.

As for the latest trailer itself, shown are even more of Final Fantasy XVI’s fast-paced combat gameplay, with heavy emphasis on special moves, dodging, and summoning. While some scenes that were showcased are new, a majority of the video are things that we’ve already seen from the game’s past trailers from months back. And in case you missed our previous coverage, the 16th major installment of the series will also iinclude kaiju-scaled showdowns between summonable titans known, which are dubbed as “Eikons” in this particular entry’s lore.

Another interesting detail to highlight is that this is the third Final Fantasy title to receive an MSRB rating of M (Mature), and it is also the first numbered release to be classified as such. According to the game’s rating in Brazil, XVI’s mature direction will include explicit scenes and plenty of violence. Other games from franchise to score the same rating includes Final Fantasy Type-0 from 2011, and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin that was released back in March this year.

Lamborghini Officially Unveils Its New Limited Edition Countach LPI 800-4 Supercar

Lamborghini has finally unveiled its new Countach LPI 800-4, which is a fully modernised version of the iconic supercar to celebrate its 50th anniversary. True to what was teased and leaked prior to this, the model will sport a new design and a hybrid powertrain, as well as several new modern additions to both its interior and exterior.

The updated Countach’s redesign isn’t as retro-inspired like Hyundai’s modernisation of its Pony hatchback, which retains most of the car’s original 1975-era aesthetics. Instead, the new model sports a modern wedge design that is similar to current generation Lamborghini supercars such as the Aventador and Sián, while still maintaining some recognisable features from the original. The car also lacks a rear spoiler, which is likely a homage to the original 1971 concept. Another nod to the prototype is the “Countach” branding that is situated on the vehicle’s thin front grille – a design element that is removed from the actual LP400 production model and its successors.

The new car comes with a chassis, panels and other miscellaneous parts that are made out of carbon fiber, giving it a dry weight of 1,595kg. Modern touches include movable air vents and a cool photochromatic roof that can shift from solid to transparent electronically via a touch of button. Of course, no Lambo is complete without the car maker’s signature scissor doors, but Countach purists will be disappointed to know that the new model does not come with pop-up headlights.

Found inside the new Countach is an interior that somewhat resembles the Lamborghini Sián’s, complete with an 8.4-inch touchscreen for managing the car’s controls. The car maker noted that the infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, but made no mention of Android Auto. Also found in the interface is a “Stile” button, which enables the system to explain to users (assumingly verbally) regarding the Countach design philosophy when pressed – because why brag about your new car when the vehicle itself can do it for you?

Next up is what most of us are eager to find out: its performance. Under the Countach LPI 800-4 is the aforementioned hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 6.5 litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine and a Lithium-Ion supercapacitor-powered 48V electric motor. This enables the car to generate an output of 770 horsepower (hp) via the engine, and an additional 33hp from the motor – totalling up to 803hp when combined. Lamborghini claims that the supercar is able to go from nought to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds and features a top speed of 355km/h, which is on par with the Aventador Ultimae and the Sián.

As mentioned in our previous report, the new Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 will be a limited release – with only 112 units planned to be shipped in the first quarter of 2022. By the way, “112” is actually a reference to the original 1971 Countach prototype’s internal project name. If you have the cash to throw, you can order the new model at a modest price of only US$ 2.64 million (~RM 11.2 million). For the rest of us who wish to get our hands on this new supercar, our best option is to wait for it to be featured in video games such as Gran Turismo or Forza.

Tag Heuer Has A Limited Edition Super Mario Smartwatch

Luxury watch maker Tag Heuer is no stranger to the world of smartwatches, even if its presence isn’t exactly prominent. Last year, the company announced its third generation Connected smartwatch. The company has since announced that it will be making a limited edition, Super Mario-themed one.

The Tag Heuer Connected Super Mario edition will have lots of special features, and it’s not limited to a unique theme. One example includes dials that become “livelier and more animated” the more you move. There’s also a “gamification rewards system”, with Mario reminding you of your steps progress with different animations.

And it’s not just in the software either. Tag Heuer will also give the Super Mario edition Connected smartwatch extra touches on the physical side of things. For one, the bezels now have the mushroom symbol at three o’clock, the pipe at six, and the star at nine, as well as red highlights. The crown gets the red M that represents the character too. It will also have two interchangeable bands. One has a layer of black leather on red rubber, the other is just a red rubber, perforated band.

But for now, the Tag Heuer Connected Super Mario edition comes with a US$2150 (~RM9010) price tag. Only 2000 of these will be made, and they will be available on 15 July. You can register your interest in it via its official website, linked below.

Seagate Has A Limited Edition Cyberpunk 2077 SSD

Cyberpunk 2077 launched over half a year ago. The game has also weathered most of the bad press it got due to its messy launch. But the idea of “better late than never” was probably what went through the minds of the people at Seagate. The company has unveiled its limited edition SSD themed around the CD Projekt game.

Beyond the bright neon yellow skin, what Seagate has unveiled is a FireCuda 520 SSD in an M.2 2280 form factor. With it comes all the other benefits of an SSD of this type, like read and write speeds of 5000MB/s and 4400MB/s respectively.

TechSpot reports that Seagate is naturally only making 2077 of the limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 SSD. And it only comes in 1TB storage capacity. The standard editions of the FireCuda 520 SSDs come in 500GB and 2TB variants as well.

Last month, OnePlus also announced its Watch with the CyberPunk 2077 theme in its home market of China. While in a sense it’s also considered to be a little late to the party, the phone maker was among the first to cash in on the game’s hype, with the OnePlus 8T phone.

But back to the Seagate SSD. Considering it’s a limited edition, you can expect it to be priced a little higher than the standard FireCuda 520 SSD. Add the recent scalping trend in tech, and it will probably be unobtainable at a reasonable price anyway.

Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition OnePlus Watch Launching In China

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that was unexpectedly met with infamy from both gamers and critics due to its constant delays, troubled launch, and disappointingly unpolished release. Despite its mixed reception, it appears that certain brands are still banking on the CD Projekt Red-developed game to market limited edition products to consumers. One such brand is none other than Chinese tech company OnePlus.

After launching a special edition of the OnePlus 8T last year, the company has announced that it will be releasing another Cyberpunk 2077-themed product in China next week. This time around, the device in question is confirmed to be a limited edition of its first ever smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch.

Much like the smartphone, this version of the wearable also comes with similar design elements such as the neon yellow stripes, black on black lines, and the game’s branding. However, these are only limited to the straps. Its main body, on the other hand, is presented in the same gun metal black as the regular version of the smartwatch, which is somewhat disappointing.

OnePlus did not provide any details regarding the limited edition’s hardware, but it is believed that the specifications will be no different from the original. As a quick refresher, the OnePlus Watch features a 1.39-inch OLED display, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and a battery that is capable of lasting up to two weeks. It comes with a rating of IP68 in terms of dust and water resistance. Unique to the limited edition is the onboard Cyberpunk 2077-themed watch face and user interface.

Last but not least, the Cyberpunk 2077 limited edition OnePlus Watch also comes with a display stand that is modeled after Johnny Silverhand’s, well, hand. It wasn’t revealed if the accessory would feature some form of charging capability, or is merely just for decoration.

Pricing for the smartwatch will only be confirmed by the brand when it launches in China next week on 24 May 2021. Whether OnePlus is planning to have the device see an international release after this is not known at this time. But seeing that the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition did eventually make its way to Malaysia in December of last year, there’s a chance that we might see this version of the wearable released locally as well.

Sony Unveils WH-1000XM4 Silent White Limited Edition; Available This May At RM 1799

Sony will be celebrating its 75th anniversary on 7 May 2021. In conjunction with the occasion, the brand has announced that it will release a new Silent White limited edition of its popular WH-1000XM4 ANC wireless headphones around the same time.

This version of the headphones retains the same design as before, but is now presented in a snowy white colour with striking gold accents. According to Sony, the finishing on the WH-1000XM4 Silent White comes with an additional coat of paint in order to retain its colour, as well as to increase its stain-resistance. Much like the releases, this version of the headphones also come with an assortment of cables and a carrying bag – also sporting the same Silent White colour scheme, of course.

No change in hardware specifications either – which is not a bad thing whatsoever, considering the WH-1000XM4’s top notch performance in audio, noise cancellation and other advanced features. For those who’ve missed it, you can check out our review of the Sony headphones.

Sony Malaysia has confirmed that the new WH-1000XM4 Silent White will be arriving in the country this May and available via its official stores in KLCC and The Curve, as well as its online store. The limited edition headphones is retailing at RM 1,799, which is a slight bump from the RM1,599 price tag of the original release.
