Samsung May Announce Galaxy Z Tab Foldable Tablet Alongside Tab S9 Series

There have been a fair number of rumours surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series of tablets that are expected to be launching this year. This includes a possibility of there being five distinct models in the lineup in total, with two budget variants in addition to the base, Plus and Ultra models. More recently, an industry leakster has claimed that the South Korean tech giant may be launching another tablet at the same time. And this extra addition may be a foldable tablet, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Z Tab.

The leakster in question is one Revegnus, who made the claim on Twitter. In an answer to a question in the replies, they claim that “There’s a really high probability that this will come out this year”. They also say that the alternative would be releasing it in 2024 instead, but doing so would mean that it will be “one of a bunch of foldables coming out next year”.

Beyond that though, there’s not much else in terms of details. Though if Samsung truly intends to launch a foldable tablet this year, then it will line up with a previous claim by another leakster. Last month, Yogesh Brar claimed that the company may be lifting the veil off of a tri-folding device sometime this year. At the time, it was unclear which form of tri-folding this device will end up sporting. During last year’s edition of CES, the company showcased two possibilities – one is an in-and-out double curve that resembles the letter S or Z, the other being a brochure-like inwards fold.

At any rate, we’ll likely have to wait until Samsung officially announces the Galaxy Tab S9 series of tablets first to see if the announcement gets a hitchhike by a Z Tab. And for now, even those don’t yet have a date attached to the event.

Lenovo Reveals New Details Of Its HDMI-In Equipped Yoga Pad Pro 13 Tablet

Lenovo first teased its new Yoga tablet last week, which was revealed to feature a HDMI-in function for allowing it to double as a supplementary or portable display. The company has recently released several more teasers featuring the device on Weibo, along with some tidbits of its specifications.

While its official name has yet to be revealed, it is suggested by website SeekDevice that the new tablet will be known as the Yoga Pad Pro 13. From the Weibo posts, Lenovo confirms that its new device will feature a 13-inch display with 1440p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. The company also revealed that its display supports up to 4,096 levels of pressure, therefore making it ideal for sketching and jotting down notes – with a stylus, most likely.

The Yoga Pad Pro 13 will feature quad-speakers with Dolby Atmos support. These are apparently housed in the tubular kickstand located at the bottom of the tablet. Besides the aforementioned HDMI-in port, it will also come with two USB-C ports – likely for charging and connecting external peripherals.

Lenovo did not reveal what’s powering the tablet in terms of performance, but SeekDevice speculates that it may come with a Snapdragon 870 chipset. Should that information be accurate, then it’s likely that the device will ship with Android rather than the Windows operating system.

In any case, we’ll be finding out more regarding the Yoga Pad Pro 13 later this month. As noted by Lenovo in its recent post on Weibo, the tablet will see a launch in China on 24 May 2021.

Lenovo Teases New Yoga Tablet With HDMI Input Feature

Lenovo has recently released a teaser featuring a new tablet via its official account on Chinese social media platform Weibo. Unlike the brand‘s typical offerings from this category, this new device is shown to feature a HDMI input.

As demonstrated in the image provided, the tablet could also function as a portable display that can output or mirror visuals from certain sources via a HDMI cable. In the teaser’s case, the new Yoga device is shown connected to a docked Nintendo Switch console, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe displayed on the tablet’s screen.

Needless to say, this is pretty handy if you wish to play your games outside on a larger screen. That is, if you don’t mind lugging around the Switch’s dock along with you and at the same time finding an outdoor plug for it.

Of course, Nintendo’s console is just one of the many possible uses for the new Lenovo tablet’s HDMI-in support. With the feature, the device is definitely capable of being used as a secondary display for your PC and laptop as well. Although it may not be as generous as an actual 20+ inch monitor, users such as streamers could utilise it for displaying live chats or other data that does not require a larger screen size.

Lest we forget, the new Yoga is still a tablet which is surely capable of doing whatever a tablet can do. However, the company has yet to reveal what kind of specifications we’ll be expecting at this time. It’s not specified if it will be running Android or Windows either.

From our observation of the image, it doesn’t appear that the device does not feature any front-facing cameras on its slim bezels. It is also shown to sport a thin form factor – save for the bottom, which looks like the grip handle from the Lenovo Yoga Tab/Smart Tab series. Seeing how the tablet is positioned, we can safely assume that it also comes with a rear kickstand.

Interestingly, also featured on the teaser is the chemical element symbol for a rare metal material known as Tantalum (Ta). How this relates to the tablet is not known for now. Hopefully we’ll find out more regarding this new Lenovo Yoga device soon enough.

Xiaomi Reportedly Working On Three New Premium Tablet Models

Chinese tech brand Xiaomi is reportedly working on new premium tablet models, according to leakster Kacper Skrzpek (@kacskrz) via XDA. With the last product from that category being the Mi Pad 4 series (pictured above) back in 2018, the company seemingly had stopped releasing newer tablets ever since.

The leakster claims that data regarding three new Xiaomi tablets were discovered in the alpha build of MIUI Home 12.5. All three were listed under code names inspired by ancient Mesopotamian myths such as “nabu”, “enuma” and “elish”. 

Upon further research, Skrzpek found that “nabu” – which features a model number ending in K82 – will be powered by Qualcomm’s SM8150 platform. This could mean that the tablet could feature a Snapdragon 855 or 860 series chipset. It will also feature a 8,720mAh battery, the leakster added. Being the only device listed to have the aforementioned model number, it is believed that “nabu” will be an independent tablet from the latter two.

Speaking of which, “enuma” and “elish” is said to feature the model numbers K81 and K81A respectively, which suggests that the duo may be part of a series. Unlike “nabu”, the leakster revealed both tablets will feature Qualcomm’s SM8250 SoC platform – possibly the Snapdragon 865 or 870 models. “Enuma” is noted to also feature LTE or 5G connectivity.

In terms of display, Skrzpek says that all three devices will come with IPS LCD screens with 2560 x 1600 px resolution, 16:10 aspect ratios and 120Hz refresh rates. Size-wise, “nabu” is said to feature a 10.97-inch diagonal display but unfortunately, no information regarding the screen size for “enuma” and “elish” were provided.

While the possibility of Xiaomi taking another jab at the tablet market sounds interesting, we still can’t disregard the chances of this information of being inaccurate. Regardless, the company will definitely announce these new devices in the near future, should this leak be proven true in the end.
